Tell us about yourself before joining CrossFit.

Before starting CrossFit I was working out at home. I had maintained a 25 pound weight loss for a few years, but was starting to get bored with home videos. I remember during my first class thinking the warmup was harder than my workouts!

What is the biggest difference you’ve noticed since joining?

The biggest difference I have noticed since starting CrossFit is that I'm more willing to do things I'm bad at, both inside and outside the gym. "If you're bad at it, do it more." Coach Jon.

"The highest compliment I can pay Joleen is that her last rep is always as good as her first. She works hard and cares about the quality of her movement over her time or weight, and it is paying off. She is the first to welcome and help a new member and she is a linchpin in our community."

Coach Jon

What is your proudest CrossFit moment?

I'm most proud of climbing the rope on my first attempt. I "knew" it was something I would never be able to do! But I went right up to the top because of the coaching and advise from another member. (Shout out to Robert!)

How did you hear about us?

I first heard about 1620 after moving to the neighborhood 3 years ago. It had just opened up and I had just bought my own home. My friend asked me to join with her. I was so intimidated...but once I stepped through the doors I never looked back! I this where I say I drank the Kool-Aid?

"From day one Joleen has made herself, and her family, part of our community. No matter what class or event Joleen makes sure that she makes everyone feel welcome. She is one of the hardest working, and most coachable athletes I have had the pleasure of working with."

Coach Kali

What is your next goal?

My goals inside the box is to keep working on my pull-ups and double unders! Outside the box I am working on finding balance.

What would your perfect WOD look like?

My perfect WOD might have tire flips, snatches or rope climbs with a built in rest (winky-face). I love partner WODs and WuTang Wednesdays

What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit or think of giving it a try?

If you're even thinking a little bit about starting CrossFit then go for it! Kali, Jon, Jimmy, Sprinkles and the rest of the coaching staff make the workouts fun, and keep everyone safe by tailoring workouts. I don't think I am overselling it when I say you are going to love it!
